Exciting things are happening at the library! As we prepare to move into our brand-new home, the Kimball Junction Branch will be closed August 16 through September 13 while we relocate our collection and get everything ready to welcome you.

Before we close, we invite you to stop by August 1–15 to check out all your favorite books, movies, and more to enjoy while we move. Every item you borrow is one less item we have to carry, so you're helping make the move a little easier just by checking things out!

During the closure, library services will still be available at our Coalville and Kamas Branches, and you can access our digital resources anytime with your library card. We're looking forward to celebrating our Grand Opening and Book Brigade on Saturday, October 3—mark your calendars! If everything comes together ahead of schedule, we may even open our doors a little early, so be sure to follow our website, social media, and email updates for the latest news.

Local book group "Banned Book Babes" is meeting to discuss "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" by Dr. Maya Angelou. They will welcome Angelou's great-granddaughter Caylin Johnson on Zoom to share her thoughts about the book and her great-grandmother's legacy. That portion of the meeting will begin around 6:15 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend the event in the Kimball Junction Branch auditorium, or on the Zoom webinar.

Bring your friends (and game faces) and close out a fun summer of reading at the Coalville Branch with a Nintendo Switch and Pizza Party! We will see you there! This program is intended for teens ages 12-18. Register by calling 435-336-3070

Emerging Issues is an adult discussion program that includes pre-readings, viewing a video together in class then breaking into small discussion groups. This month the topic is Artificial Intelligence -- The Astonishing and Scary Advances. Understanding how AI's rapid progress challenges ethics, jobs, privacy and democracy. Hosted by Joel Shine. Space is limited and registration is required.

Ready to get boulder with your art? Come paint rocks with us! Friends of the Summit County Library is sponsoring a monthly adult art class at the Kimball Junction Branch (Room 133) every second Tuesday of the month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Various artistic ideas will be explored in each class. All supplies will be provided. *Class size is limited to 12 participants, so registration is required. Bring your friends and neighbors for a fun evening of socializing and creativity.

Everyone has a seat at the opera! Our friends at Park City Opera have offered Summit County Library families first-come, first-serve free tickets to Roméo et Juliette. More than seventy artists including international singers, chorus, an orchestra of forty players, and ballet dancers from Ballet West II will fill the stage of the Eccles Center in Park City. Don't miss this grand spectacle! 100 free tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and are limited to two tickets per party.
